Frequently Asked Questions

Ask A Question
  • The tyre brand I’d like for my car isn’t listed on your site – what can I do?

Give Docs Mobile Tyre Service a call on 0400 314 662  and we’ll do our best to source and supply your preferred brand. We stock both major and lesser known tyre brands, so on the rare instance we don’t have what you’re looking for, one of our specialists can recommend an alternative.

  • Can you fix a punctured tyre?

It’s best to call your local mobile tyre service to assess your tyre. The experts are fully equipped with all the necessary tools to provide you with a proper and reliable puncture repair service.

  • How do I find my tyre size?

Your tyre size is always written as a sequence of numbers and letters on the side of your tyre. For example, it will appear as: 185/55 R15 81H. This measurement signifies:

    • Width (185) – the width of your tyre in millimetres.
    • Profile (55) – the size between wheel rim and the top of the tyre, measured as a percentage of the tyre width.
    • Tyre size (R15) – the diameter of the rim in inches.
    • Load index (81) – this refers to the load capacity of the tyre in kilograms.
    • Speed index (H) – this refers to the maximum speed the tyre can be safely driven at.

  • When do tyres need replacing?

We recommend replacing tyres before the tread wears down to the tread depth Indicators. Once the tread has worn down to this level, tyres become unroadworthy and must be changed. Tyres may also need replacing if there are any cracks, impact damage and even some punctures.

  • What is wheel balancing?

Wheel balancing is essential when any new tyres are fitted to ensure they rotate freely. This can help in reducing fuel consumption and tyre wear. If your wheels aren’t balanced properly, they will cause your steering wheel to vibrate and give you less control of your vehicle.

  • What happens to my old tyres?

Part of our services include the proper disposal of old tyres, as per legal and environmental guidelines.
